November 2006
Newsletter
Dear
Guests,
The end of 2006 seems to be creeping upon us
fast and furiously and I can honestly not believe that the
annual newsletter is due again. It seems only yesterday that
I was missing out on all the December action whilst looking
after a very demanding little newborn baby who will soon
be a year old.
You will all be happy to know that Chris and
I managed to survive this year despite having a baby, a 2yr
old and Blanco to contend with. There have been times when
a straight jacket would have been appropriate but fortunately
we seem to have somehow kept our sanity intact. Jokes aside
though, this year, although tough, has been amazing for us
and once again incredibly rewarding. We are still trying to
teach our toddler, Cody, the finer points of being in the hospitality
industry i.e. that ‘pooing’ on the front lawn in
her potty training week, in front of all of the guests is simply
not acceptable or good for business! |
 |
To all of our old guests who
returned to Blanco this year, it was wonderful to have you
with us yet again. With each year that passes by, we look
forward to your visit more and more. To all the new faces
we met, thank you for supporting us and we hope your stay
was everything you wished it to be. We look forward to seeing
you again in the future.
Our in-season weeks went of as
usual with plenty of fun to be had by all. One week worth
mentioning however is our very well behaved April crowd.
I was sitting in the bar one night having a quiet sherry
and I innocently made the mistake of mentioning that they
were by far the quietest group of guests that we have! Well,
the following night I found myself dragged to the bar in
my pajamas only to witness a striptease on the bar, some
very fancy dancing, some decidedly interesting dress sense
and some serious alcohol consumption. All credit to this
will have to go to the one and only – Dave Granger!
Here are some photies of our “well behaved
week”: |
|
| The first week
of the July school holidays was as usual just one big party
from start to finish.
I am not sure that any of our guests could say they returned
home well rested but certainly they would have been fueled
up by fun. Peter Starke made the most of our new sound system
every night and instead of rocking Jamie (my baby) to sleep
to the sound of “hush little baby”, it was the
speeded up version to “abba”! Daryl and Cheryl,
I am sure you are relating to this one. |

Now, on to the finer points of
Blanco;

|
| Well folks,
that is pretty much all our news for now so I would like
to end off with a little story that depicts beautifully what
I have learned from this year. |
| |
An old man and his son worked on a small farm,
with only one horse to pull the plow. One day the horse ran
away.
“
How terrible,” sympathised the neighbours. “What
bad luck.”
“
Who knows whether it is bad luck or good luck” The
farmer replied.
A week later the horse returned from the mountains, leading
five wild mares into the barn.
“
What wonderful luck!” said the neighbours.
“
Good luck? Bad Luck? Who knows?” answered the old man.
The next day, the son, trying to tame one of the horses, fell
and broke his leg.
“ How terrible. What bad luck!”
“ Bad luck? Good Luck?”
The army came to all the farms to take the young men to war.
The farmer’s son was on no use to them so he was spared.
“ Good? Bad?”

| I have learned from this year
that everything has a purpose; it’s for you to make
the best use of it. Everything has a lesson in it; it is
how you respond to it
that counts! I have learned that there is both good in bad
in all of us and in every situation. What we see and what we
choose makes all the difference.
God Bless to you all and your families
Kindest Regards,
Chris, Kim and Blanco Team |
